Conference Abstracts
The 2025 conference offered separate streams for the BSPRM, HealthTech Research Centre for Rehabilitation (HRC) / National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC), and ISPO UK abstracts.
Top scoring BSPRM abstracts were selected for oral presentations and published in the SAGE Journal ‘Advances in Rehabilitation Science and Practice’ following the conference:

BSPRM Best Poster Presentation Award

Honorary Life Membership Award
Each year, BSPRM recognises individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the field of rehabilitation by awarding them Honorary Life Membership, presented during the Annual General Meeting.
This year’s recipients were Professor Andrew Frank and Dr Barbara J Chandler. See the course programme to view their nominations.


Best Research Paper Award
The BSPRM Collaborative Research Network’s Best Paper Award is awarded annually and is open to all BSPRM members. Eligible papers could report on research, quality improvement, or audit work in rehabilitation. The paper must have been published in a peer-reviewed journal, with the online publication date falling within 2024. Any author listed on the paper was welcome to submit an entry, regardless of authorship position.
Prize: £500 and Certificate awarded at the Conference.
Winner: Prof Manoj Sivan, alongside co-authors Nafi Iftekhar and Dr Jo Corrado - "Prevalence of orthostatic intolerance in long covid clinic patients and healthy volunteers: A multicenter study"

Medical Student Essay Prize
BSPRM's Medical Student Essay Prize is awarded annually on a competitive basis, the award was presented at the 2025 Conference. All UK Medical Students were invited to submit a 2,500-word essay on a subject relating to Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine from a medical, biological or sociological point of view, including a review of relevant literature.
Prize: £250 and certificate awarded at the conference.
Winner: Imen Rezgui - "Reconstructing Recovery: A New Paradigm in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine"
Runner-up: Anisa Choudhury - "Bridging Gaps in Stroke Rehab: Access and Outcomes in the UK and Bangladesh"
Runner-up: Hannah Read - "What Can We Learn From Rehabilitation Medicine to Better Support Patients Living with Postural Tachycardia Syndrome"
