The BSPRM Collaborative Research Network Best Paper Award 2026 has been awarded to Dr Stephen Ashford for his contribution to the following publication:

Esquenazi A, Zorowitz RD, Ashford S, Beneteau M, Maisonobe P, Hannes C, Jacinto J; AboLiSh Study Group. Longitudinal Goal Attainment With Repeat Injections of AbobotulinumtoxinA in Adults With Lower Limb Spasticity: Results From a Prospective Observational Study. Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. 2025;106(6):894–901. doi: 10.1016/j.apmr.2024.10.017. Epub 2024 Nov 20. PMID: 39571744.

The award was announced at the BSPRM Annual Scientific Conference Awards Ceremony on 30 September 2026.

The winning paper reports findings from the AboLiSh study, a prospective observational study examining goal attainment among adults with lower limb spasticity receiving repeat injections of abobotulinumtoxinA. It provides valuable real-world evidence on patient outcomes and goal achievement, contributing to the evidence base supporting rehabilitation practice and spasticity management.

Awarded annually and open to all BSPRM members, the BSPRM Collaborative Research Network Best Paper Award recognises outstanding research, quality improvement and audit work in rehabilitation. It provides an opportunity to showcase high-quality work undertaken by members of the rehabilitation community. The winner receives a £500 prize and an award.

BSPRM warmly congratulates Dr Ashford and his co-authors on this achievement.
