WFNR Webinar: Gait Rehabilitation – From Neuroscience to Robotics
29 October @ 08:00:00 - 17:00:00
Location: Online
Cost: Free
Organiser: World Federation for NeuroRehabilitation (WFNR)

Walking is one of the most fundamental and complex forms of human motor behaviour. Its partial or complete loss is among the most disabling consequences of neurological disorders, with a significant effect on independence, quality of life and social participation.
Research into neuroplasticity has demonstrated that the nervous system retains considerable capacity for reorganisation. At the same time, advances in robotics and wearable technologies are reshaping rehabilitation by enabling intensive, high-dose interventions that would have been unthinkable a generation ago.
Despite progress in acute neurological care, many people continue to experience chronic walking difficulties. There is therefore an urgent need for more effective, scalable and evidence-based rehabilitation strategies. Bridging the gap between laboratory discoveries and routine clinical practice remains both a central challenge and an important opportunity in contemporary neurorehabilitation.
This free WFNR webinar brings together three leading European experts to provide a comprehensive perspective on gait rehabilitation. The programme will cover the neuroscientific mechanisms underlying locomotor recovery, established clinical rehabilitation techniques and the latest robotic and assistive technologies for lower-limb rehabilitation.
